NEWS: Ontario Trillium Foundation Provides Grant for Safety Resource Guide- Media Event September 29
Posted on: 29-September-2009
Safe Communities Chatham-Kent met today to celebrate the launch of an injury prevention resource guide. With the help of a $20,000 grant from Ontario Trillium Foundation, the committee was able to create, design and print a comprehensive guide with information on various local organizations who provide safety programs.
“The guide has improved and enhanced access to relevant and useful injury prevention resources among the residents of Chatham-Kent. The Trillium Grant was instrumental in filling enourmous information gaps and accessibility gaps in the community through providing comprehensive access to community injury prevention resources that are aimed at reducing the financial, physical and social costs of unintentional injuries in the community”, says Safe Communities Chairperson, Denise Pockele.
The electronic guide is currently accessible as a PDF document online through the following websites; www.cksafetyvillage.org, www.ck.safecommunities.ca, and www.unitedway.chatham-kent.on.ca.
Hard copies of the guide will soon be available, free of charge, at various locations including the Chatham-Kent Children’s Safety Village, all Chatham-Kent Public Libraries, Chatham-Kent United Way, Chatham-Kent Public Health Unit, all Chatham-Kent Police Centres, and the Chatham Civic Centre.
